Who I Am
Born in Cambridge, UK but mostly raised 20ish minutes outside Seattle, WA. I was always very interested in nature and playing outside and drawing and music as a young child, and frequently doodled in journals, most of which I have unfortunately lost, other than a few. I vividly remember my mum setting up some pots and pans on the floor of the kitchen and giving me wooden spoons to hit them with for fun. I would also spend a lot of time playing around with digital creative tools, and made silly animations and powerpoint slideshows on my Mum’s laptop. By age 8, I had started learning to play the drums, and went on to pursue all the jazz/marching/symphonic band opportunities I could in school. Started making music on my computer at age 15 on a cracked version of FL Studio, but switched to ableton a few years later. After finishing highschool I moved to Boston, MA to study Electronic Production and Design at Berklee College of Music, which held an extremely socially isolative and unstimulating environment, both the city and the way the school was ran; I spent those four years reclusively making album after album. Thankfully, I met some lovely people there who offered invaluable guidance that paved the way for me truly blossoming as an artist.
I finished undergrad, got my special peice of paper, moved back home (WA), worked at starbucks to save up to get back to the East Coast, and nearly offed myself due to food-service-induced humiliation disorder, which led to keymashing being born as a coping mechanism. Soon after, I was accepted into a lovely DIY collective arts/music space in Worcester, MA that really helped me break out of my shell in many ways, also marking the start of keymasher performances. I’m just doing my thing, 23y/o me trying to create as much as I can, and struggling because the world is falling apart and lots of people are getting fucked over at the moment. Be kind to one another and create.
