News + Thoughts
Apr. 23rd, 2025
I spend nearly every facet of my time and existence on the internet in one way or another. It’s not alright, and I think I was brainwashed as a child by a culture that is slowly shifting towards, if not already slumped into, a form of mass thought-coercion/colonization through subliminal messaging and a rigid enforcement of social conformity through engineering social-media culture into a wasteland of human interaction.
The internet has been fed to me my entire life; in the schools, on the televisions, in the libraries. It’s inescapable, and it feels like it’s grown into us like an extra limb that has more control over our own bodies than our own brains do.
I’m doing okay mentally and whatnot, but it’s really worrisome to consider the overarching impacts on the way humans interconnect and share ideas and emotions. We’ve been fed devices that hold enticing playgrounds of social falsehoods that are now being filled with bots designed specifically to inflict emotional uproar and anguish amongst it’s human users, whom have been wrapped into addiction by the creators of said platforms. How does one break free from something one was brought up with? Though I wasn’t raised religiously, I feel there must be some parallels in breaking free from the chains of the internet and from religious dogma. This parallel is only bolstered by the way we are increasingly treating the internet as some sort of higher-power entity in our hunger to interface with it and its algorithms.
Over the past decade we have replaced our systems of choice with internet algorithms, and with the dawn of AI upon us I’ve become even more concerned. If AI is fully integrated into all parts of the internet, which it seems to be headed towards, does that not imply that our entire socially constructed way of digital life is to be run by artificial entities? And even further, if we have cut off our ties to healthy social relations/behaviors in the real world, do we have anything else left to turn to? We are being led to the edge of a cliff blindly, we are willingly walking off of this cliff, and we blame eachother for our gruesome end as our bodies pile atop one another, because we know nothing else. Like with religious extremism, one must fully deprogram oneself to truly be free from the new false-god, the internet, but I’m not too sure the world we live in, or rather, the world enforced upon us actually allows us to achieve such a thing anymore.
Screaming in restaurant challenge, six-second skit, failed rocket test, new ice-cream shop, stabbing, advertisement, advertisement, schizophrenic rant, video game clip, advertisement, body-cam footage, man hit by car, screaming, lmao I’m dead.
